Two new murder cases registered against former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, FIR registered in 84 cases so far

Two new murder cases have been registered against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her former cabinet ministers over the death of three people, including two BNP workers, during the anti-reservation reform protests in Bangladesh. Both these cases were registered in Dhaka courts on Friday. These are new cases in various cases registered against Hasina. Hasina left her post on August 5 and went to India after massive protests by students against the reservation system in government jobs.

84 cases registered against Sheikh Hasina
With these two cases, the total number of cases against Hasina has risen to 84, including 70 for murder, eight for crimes against humanity and genocide, three for alleged kidnapping and three for other charges, the Daily Star newspaper reported. Matiur Rahman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) filed a case in Kishoreganj over the deaths of party workers Zulkar Hossain (38) and Anjana (28) on August 4. According to the statement of case, a procession of students and BNP workers was attacked by Awami League leaders with sticks and sharp-edged weapons during a protest.

88 people nominated
Some BNP activists took refuge in the house of a district Awami League leader in the nearby Khormaptri area, where they were held hostage by Hasina-led party workers and then set on fire, killing Hossain and Anjana. Hasina, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and 88 others have been named as accused in the case. The second new case was registered in connection with the death of a 22-year-old youth in Munshiganj. He was shot dead during a student-led agitation in the city’s supermarket area on August 4.
