Trump’s attacker did a Google search ‘How far was Kennedy’s shooter Oswald’, FBI reveals

Another revelation has been made about the 20-year-old attacker suspected of attempting to assassinate former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, searched online about the John F. Kennedy assassination the day he registered for Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

FBI Director Christopher Ray gave this information on Wednesday, saying, “An analysis of a laptop belonging to the shooter in the investigation shows that he searched ‘how far was Oswald from Kennedy’ on Google on July 6.

He said, “It appears that this is the same day he registered for the Butler rally. Thomas Crooks was very much focused on President Trump and his rally at that time.” Former President Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.

The attacker had flown a drone

FBI Director Ray said that nursing home assistant Crooks fired at least eight rounds from his roof during the July 13 rally, one of which grazed Trump’s ear. One person attending the rally died and two others were injured. The attacker Crooks was later killed on the spot in retaliatory action by Secret Service agents.

Crooks used an AR-15 assault-style rifle. Ray said the motive for the shooting was still unclear. Several people described Crooks as a loner and had a short list of contacts on his phone. Ray also told lawmakers that Crooks flew a drone about 200 yards (180 meters) from the stage where Trump addressed the crowd.

Weapons and explosives recovered from the house

Ray said law enforcement officials did not see Crooks on the roof with an AR-15-style rifle until after he had fired the shot. He said everything would be revealed only after a full investigation. Weapons and explosive devices later recovered from Crooks’ car and home showed that he had designed them to be detonated remotely. Crooks had a transmitter. The FBI believes that if he had tried to detonate the devices, he would not have succeeded.

John F. Kennedy was the fourth US President to be assassinated. On 22 November 1963, Kennedy, while being the President, was busy preparing for the presidential election again. There was a huge crowd of his supporters in Dallas. On reaching Dallas, he got off the Air Force One plane and sat in the car with his wife. But suddenly two bullets fired from the crowd took his life. One bullet hit his head and the other hit his neck.

The security personnel immediately took him to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. A former soldier Oswald was arrested on the charge of Kennedy’s murder. However, two days later, a Kennedy supporter killed the accused Oswald. Many theories emerged behind Kennedy’s murder, but the mystery regarding the reasons for his murder still remains.
