A shooting occurred at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, leaving at least one attendee dead and Trump himself injured.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with one man named Greg telling the BBC that he saw a person “bear-crawling” up the roof of a building next to the rally, carrying a rifle.

“We’re like, ‘hey man, there’s a guy on the roof with a rifle!’ The police were like ‘huh?’ Like they didn’t know what was going on,” Greg recalled. He said he pointed out the shooter on the roof to the police for several minutes before shots rang out.
Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick, who was sitting in the front row, said it appeared someone behind him was shot. “It’s hard to tell whether they came from one direction or two different weapons. It wasn’t clear, at least I couldn’t tell. And sadly, someone behind me up in the bleachers was definitely wounded, and there was a lot of blood,” McCormick told FOX News.
The shooting is being investigated as an attempted assassination of the former president. Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service agents, and video footage showed blood near his ear. The suspected shooter was killed by Secret Service agents.
