Tribal girl gangraped in Madhya Pradesh, two accused arrested after minister’s intervention

A sensational incident of gang rape of a 13-year-old tribal girl has come to light in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. On the basis of the complaint of the victim’s family, the police have registered a case and arrested two accused. Both are being interrogated in custody.

According to the information, the crime was committed in a village under Khargapur police station on Independence Day. The matter came to light on Thursday when the minor and her family met Minister-in-Charge Krishna Gaur, who was visiting the area at that time.

Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police Rohit Kashwani said the police have registered a case of gangrape against the accused Salim Khan and Lalu Khan under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The police officer said that the minor girl was working in her field on August 15. At that time both the accused came to her. She knew them from before. They took her with them inside the field. After this both of them made her a victim of their lust.

Kharagpur police station in-charge Manoj Dwivedi said that both the accused stopped the victim from telling anyone about the incident and threatened to kill her. Due to this, the victim kept quiet out of fear. But after a few days, she fell ill.

After this, she told her family members about the crime. Her father works as a labourer in Delhi, while her mother stays at home and takes care of them. Police said that investigation is underway to find out why the family did not approach the police earlier.
