Wrestler and now Congress leader Vinesh Phogat will start her campaign for Julana assembly elections from her husband’s native village Bakta Kheda today. During this, 6 Khap Panchayats and the Khap Panchayat of Rathi community will welcome Vinesh and after this Vinesh will address the public meeting.
Julana seat of Jat land Bangar area of Haryana has always been the stronghold of parties like INLD and JJP, which have been representing this seat for the last 15 years. Winning this seat will also be challenging for Vinesh. With the entry of sports star and Jat face Vinesh in Congress, this seat has become a hot seat.
In 2009 and 2014, INLD’s Parminder Singh won this seat and in 2019, JJP’s Amarjit Dhanda captured the Julana assembly seat. Talking to India Today, Vinesh’s father-in-law Rajpal Rathi said that six villages Gharwali, Kheda Bakhta, Jamola, Karela, Jaijaywanti, Gherti and Rathi community’s Khap will welcome Vinesh.

what did the family say
Her father-in-law Rajpal Rathi has started touring the constituency and going from village to village to garner votes for his daughter-in-law and he is meeting the khap leaders of the community. From today, Vinesh’s brother Harvinder and other relatives from Balali and Charkhi Dadri will go to Julana to prepare the ground for Vinesh’s campaign.
In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, Vinesh’s brother Harvinder Phogat expressed pride in her decision to join the Congress. Vinesh’s family believes that politics is a new platform for her, from where she can fight for her important issues. Vinesh’s brother Harvinder said, “The struggle will continue, whether it is on the road or on the wrestling mat, and now in politics too. We will do healthy politics for women, farmers and the poor.”
BJP can bet on a Brahmin face
BJP has not announced the name of Julana candidate in the first list. According to sources, BJP may give ticket to a Brahmin due to the large population in this constituency. Jats are the largest vote block in the constituency, where they are around 50 percent of the constituency’s population. BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli said, “…we will announce the next list for Haryana assembly elections soon.”

Let us tell you that before the Haryana assembly elections, on Friday itself, wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia had joined hands with the Congress. After joining the party, Phogat said that she does not want other players to face the circumstances that she had to face. She said, ‘I want to thank the Congress party. It is said that in bad times, one comes to know who is one’s own. When we were being dragged on the streets, all the parties except the BJP stood with us.’
