Three people from Bihar died in Jaipur basement accident, CM Nitish announced assistance of Rs 2 lakh

Heavy rains are falling in different parts of the country these days. Heavy rains in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur on August 1 resulted in a similar incident as happened in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar on July 27. Three people, including a 6-year-old girl, drowned when rainwater entered the basement of a house in Jaipur’s Vishwakarma area. All the three deceased were originally from Bihar.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the accident in Jaipur. He posted on social media platform X that the death of 3 people from Bihar due to drowning after water accumulated in the basement of a house in Jaipur is sad. The Resident Commissioner, New Delhi has been directed to coordinate with the Rajasthan government and take detailed information of the incident and ensure further action. Along with this, Nitish Kumar has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the closest dependents of the deceased.

These people lost their lives in the accident

Kamal Shah (23), Pooja Saini (19) and their niece Poorvi Saini drowned in rainwater that entered the basement of their house in Vishwakarma area of ​​Jaipur. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Amit Kumar said that after water entered the basement of their house at around 4 am, the families started removing their belongings. But the path leading to the basement is narrow and deep. Amit Kumar said that three people from two families got trapped due to waterlogging in the basement. A rescue operation was started and rainwater was pumped out. Police said that the SDRF recovered the bodies during the rescue operation that lasted for several hours. Expressing grief over the incident, CM Bhajanlal Sharma announced to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of each deceased.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari met the families of the deceased and expressed condolences. She said that efforts have been made to overcome the problem of waterlogging in the area. On the other hand, the police said that the residents of the area have been advised not to stay in their basements during the rain. Police said that all the victims are natives of Bihar. The bodies were handed over after post-mortem.
