Those who fly kites near the metro route should be careful! DMRC issued an alert regarding kite flying

On the occasion of Independence Day and Rakshabandhan, kite flying increases a lot in Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas. In view of this, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an advisory. Delhi Metro posted on Instagram that a lot of kite flying is done around 15 August, so there is a possibility of the kite string getting entangled in electric wires or getting stuck in the pantograph unit of a moving train. Due to this, metro services may get disrupted due to the kite string. At the same time, the string can also prove fatal for kite flyers.

Dedicated team will monitor
To prevent such incidents, DMRC usually keeps a watch on these days through dedicated teams. The responsibility of these teams is to keep a watch on such places. Apart from this, train operators and station staff have been appealed to be cautious these days and to immediately remove the kite strings around the metro.

Advice not to fly kites near metro lines
However, DMRC has advised and appealed to the general public to refrain from flying kites near elevated Metro lines passing through residential areas for their own safety, as any direct or indirect contact with 25000 voltage OHE can prove fatal and cause OHE tripping or damage to Metro train/pantograph, resulting in disruption of service. To ensure safety of all Metro commuters and uninterrupted Metro services, DMRC also advises the public to enjoy kite flying in open spaces away from Metro lines.
