On social media too, people are posting pictures and videos in their own style to make this day special. But in the meantime, I came across a post which is special in itself. You will stop for a moment after seeing it. This video is said to be of the Taj Mahal Hotel. Where people are seen singing the national anthem in sign language.

This video has been shared by @Suhelseth, who is a writer-businessman. While sharing this video, he wrote, ‘How amazing is this! People are singing the national anthem in sign language. This is a sight that touches the heart and I have never seen anything like this before.’ In this video, you can see that every line of the national anthem has been performed through acting. This video shared before Independence Day really fills you with new enthusiasm.

The language of communication through hands, face and body gestures of those who cannot hear or speak is called sign language. Like other languages, sign language also has its own grammar and rules. But it is not written. The proposal to celebrate International Day of Sign Languages was put forward by the World Federation of the Deaf. To raise awareness about the importance of sign language, the United Nations General Assembly declared 23 September 2018 as Sign Language Day. Sign Language Day was celebrated for the first time in 2018.

According to the World Federation of the Deaf, there are approximately 72 million deaf people in the world. 80 percent of them live in developing countries. They use 300 different sign languages. For those who cannot hear or have weak hearing, sign language is the only means of communication.

There are about 800 schools in India where studies are being done with its help but this is not enough. India’s first Sign Language Dictionary was launched in 2018. In this, translation was done from sign language to English and Hindi language.

The Panchayati Raj Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that about 400 women representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions have been invited as special guests to the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. According to officials of the Rural Development Ministry, about 45 Lakhpati Didis and about 30 Drone Didis have also been invited as special guests to attend the Independence Day celebrations. They will be felicitated by Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday.
