‘This Channi…’, Union Minister Bittu got angry at the former Punjab CM in Parliament, there was a huge uproar

During the discussion on the budget in Parliament, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu got angry at former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Bittu called Channi the most corrupt man in Punjab and targeted him fiercely. In Parliament, members of the ruling and opposition parties came face to face over the dispute between Bittu and Channi and there was a lot of uproar. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha had to be adjourned till 2 pm.

What happened was that while speaking during the discussion on the budget, Channi made a personal comment about Bittu. On Bittu’s comment, Charanjit Singh Channi said that Bittu ji, your grandfather was martyred. But he did not die that day, he died the day you left the Congress. Angered by this, Bittu said that my grandfather Sardar Beant Singh sacrificed for the country, not for the Congress. And he is talking about this Channi’s poverty. He said that if he is not the richest man from Punjab, if he is not the most corrupt, then I will change my name. This Charanjit Channi is the owner of thousands of crores.

Bittu said that who is this Gora saying this to? First he should tell Sonia Gandhi ji, where is she from. He is in MeToo, he is in all the cases, he is the most corrupt. After this statement of Bittu, when Channi started speaking, the members of the ruling party started creating ruckus. Some MPs from the Treasury Bench came to the well. MPs of the opposition also came to the well. Members of both the parties came face to face in the house. After this, the proceedings of the house were adjourned by the Chair till 2 pm.

Congress raised objection

When the proceedings of the House resumed, KC Venugopal from Congress raised objection on Bittu’s statement under Rule 352. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged to continue the proceedings while maintaining peace in the House and said that the statements from both sides should be seen, if someone has said something unparliamentary then he should be removed from the proceedings. Speaker Om Birla said that we should not lower the dignity of the House. If you have any comment to make, then come to the chamber and tell. Dignity should be maintained.

Channi surrounded the government by reminding the PM of his old statements

Earlier, former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi surrounded the government by quoting Narendra Modi’s statement during the UPA government regarding the falling value of rupee against the dollar. He said that during the UPA government, Narendra Modi had said that the country will have to be told the reason why the rupee is getting thinner. It will have to be told whether the government has become weak or the Prime Minister has become weak or the minister has become weak.

He said that our son’s wedding was held in the Gurudwara, the police has been asking for two years what was prepared in the langar and how much money was spent. And thousands of crores of rupees were spent on a wedding, the Prime Minister is carrying a bouquet. Charanjit Singh Channi also questioned the government for not giving legal guarantee of MSP. The Treasury Bench objected to Channi’s statement and said that he is misleading the farmers.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded that it be sent to the Privilege Committee and authenticated. On this, Sudip Bandopadhyay said that the rule of authentication is in Rajya Sabha, not in Lok Sabha. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey mentioned the rule which has a provision that the Speaker can ask the member to authenticate.
