This BJP leader is the target of miscreants in Manipur, his house was set on fire for the second time in 10 days

Manipur BJP leader Michael Lamjathanang’s house was once again attacked by unidentified miscreants. Police said that on Saturday, unidentified miscreants set on fire the house of BJP spokesperson Michael Lamjathanang’s parents in Penial village of Tuibong subdivision of Churachandpur district. This is the third time since last year that Lamjathanang’s house has been attacked and this is the second time in less than ten days.

Police said that more than twenty miscreants committed arson and also set a vehicle on fire. Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district Dharun Kumar S has written a letter to the District Superintendent of Police asking him to investigate the matter and submit a report as soon as possible for necessary action.

Meanwhile, condemning the attack under the guise of peace rallies, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on X, “I strongly condemn the arson attack on the house of the parents of Michael Lamjathang Haokip for the third time today. The repeated targeting of our people (Thadu in this case) under the guise of peace rallies is a very disturbing trend.”

The CM said, “Such provocative acts will not be tolerated. We will ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Also, action will be taken against concerned officials who failed to provide adequate security despite prior warning of potential threats.”

Lamjathang’s house in Peniyal village in Churachandpur district was attacked last week when over 30 armed men fired several rounds and set ablaze parts of the properties attached to the house. The attack came hours after Lamjathang participated in a local TV discussion on Kuki supremacy and its agenda.
