These systems are responsible for heavy rains in the country, IMD has issued an alert for the next 2 days

Rain is causing havoc in many states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are occurring in India due to two active weather systems at this time. The first system is a depression formed over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining eastern Rajasthan, while the second is an upper air cyclonic circulation formed over south Bangladesh and its surrounding areas.

IMD issued an alert

The depression formed over north-west Madhya Pradesh has moved considerably towards the west in the last three hours. By the morning of today, i.e. 25 August, it was centered about 60 km west-south-west of Guna in Madhya Pradesh and 120 km south-east of Kota in eastern Rajasthan. According to the weather department forecasts, this depression will continue to move towards the west-south-west and will turn into a deep depression over south Rajasthan and north Gujarat by 27 August.

After this, it is expected to move towards the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining South Pakistan near the coasts of Saurashtra and Kutch around August 29. Due to these seasonal activities, heavy rainfall is expected in these areas, due to which flood alert has been issued in many areas.

Along with this, an upper air cyclonic circulation is active over South Bangladesh, which has reached the mid-tropospheric level by this morning. The cyclonic circulation is expected to develop into a low pressure area over the same area within the next three hours. It will likely intensify further and move west-northwestwards over the next two days, affecting Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha and Jharkhand. This system is expected to bring heavy rainfall over these areas. Due to this, agriculture, transport and daily activities may be affected.
