There will be a big change after the Jammu and Kashmir elections, Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava will be appointed as the new Corps Commander

Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava will be the new commander of the Chinar Corps located in the Kashmir Valley. Already, the Chinar Corps Command is continuously carrying out anti-terror operations in Kashmir. At present, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai is commanding the Chinar Corps in the valley. After October 15, this responsibility will be given to Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava. According to Army officials, after this appointment, Lieutenant General Ghai will play the role of Director General of Military Operations at the Army Headquarters.

This entire process will take place on October 15, when two weeks will elapse after the completion of elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Let us tell you that the elections being held in three phases in the state are ending on October 1. Voting will start here from September 18. The election results will be declared on October 4. Let us tell you that elections are being held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years.

Tight security in Kashmir Valley

Lieutenant General Shrivastava has experience of many operations conducted against terrorism. He has performed many responsibilities in the valley very well. Meanwhile, before the military officer goes to the army headquarters, security forces have been deployed on a large scale in the Kashmir valley.

Will continue to handle this responsibility

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai will continue to be the commander of the corps in charge of the security of the Kashmir Valley and the Line of Control on behalf of the Indian Army. Ghai has been approved to take over as the new Director General Military Operations, replacing Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma. In the list of new postings released on July 22, several officers have already been sent to take charge in corps like 3 Corps in Dimapur and the new Army War College Commandant.
