Kanwar Yatra 2024, The Uttar Pradesh government issued an order to follow an already made law, in which they said that all shopkeepers who sell food items will have to put their license and name outside their shop. After this order, opposition parties, especially Muslim parties, protested against this law in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh. Opposition parties attacked the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh for making new rules and making laws in the name of religion. However, it is also necessary to understand what the reality is.

UPA government made a law for Dhaba owners

According to the documents, the UPA government passed the (Amendment) Bill 2006 in the rules made for Dhaba owners. In the year 2011 also, the UPA led government made changes in these rules, according to which it was made mandatory for Dhaba owners to display their name and license along with their name. During this time there was a UPA government at the center, in which Sonia Gandhi was the chairperson of UPA and Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister. During that time, the government amended these rules and made new rules, under which it was also made that everyone will have to display their name outside the shop.

It was true then, so it is true now!

So here it becomes clear that this rule was already made during the UPA government. The BJP government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to implement the already made rule in the right way and not make any new rule and now the question arises here that if this rule was correct when it was made in 2006, then why is this rule correct today! When this rule was made in 2006, it was not opposed at that time, so should it be opposed now or not?

Kanwar Yatra is to start from 22nd July

Actually, during the Kanwar Yatra, Kanwariyas travel from Uttarakhand to Uttar Pradesh. During this time, most of the Kanwariyas from western Uttar Pradesh enter western Uttar Pradesh via Uttarakhand. The government has cited the implementation of this rule to maintain faith in the Kanwar Yatra, but the opposition says that the BJP is the enemy of social harmony and wants to spoil the brotherhood of the society. Due to these divisive policies of the BJP, the social environment of the state is deteriorating.
