‘There are thorns pricking them, there are injuries on the body…’, the father of two friends found hanging from a tree in Farrukhabad raised questions on the police theory

The fathers of the two girls whose bodies were found hanging from a tree in Farrukhabad have alleged that they have been murdered. They said that the girls were hanged on the tree after killing them. The police, on the other hand, has ruled out the possibility of rape and murder. The police is saying that the girls have committed suicide.

The father of one of the girls said, “She went there because a Janmashtami program was going on. We called her at 9 o’clock and she left again. She went again at 9:30 and we saw her and came back. The program ended at 1 o’clock in the night and when we went, she was not there. We kept looking for her till 2:30-3:00 but she was nowhere to be seen. In the morning, when one of our bhabhis went to defecate, she informed us about it and then we went to see her.”

She further said, “I have not seen anyone. I cannot hang myself. Someone has murdered her. There are thorns pricked on her body and there are injury marks. There was nothing special before. No one came or went to her house. She is staying alone. It is me and my daughter. My son works in Delhi. There is a gas stove in the house. Cook when you feel hungry and if you don’t want to cook, then lie down and sleep.”

The father of the other girl also expressed suspicion of murder and said that our girls were killed and hung. He said, “There was no problem. There was a program on Janmashtami. All the people of the village were there. When she did not come for a long time, we sent our son to look for her and she was not there. We went there ourselves and inquired. After that the boy told us that she had gone to her aunt’s house. After that when we came home, we searched again. We went to sleep at around 3-4 o’clock, then in the morning when she went, she told us about this incident at around six o’clock.”

Murder or suicide… What did the father of the two Dalit girls found hanging from a tree in Farrukhabad say?

What is the police theory?

Farrukhabad SP Alok Priyadarshi said that we received information from Kaimganj’s Bhagoutipur village that two girls (aged 18 and 15 years) were found hanging from a tree. It has been learned that both were close friends. Both hanged themselves using the same dupatta. The post-mortem report has revealed that both died due to suffocation and no injury marks were found on their bodies.

Akhilesh Yadav said- the investigation should be fair

Meanwhile, SP President Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a fair investigation in this case. Akhilesh said, “The bodies of two girls, who had gone to see the Janmashtami festival in Farrukhabad, UP, found hanging from a tree is a very sensitive incident. The BJP government should immediately conduct an impartial investigation in this matter and submit its report in this suspicious case of murder. Such incidents create a horrific environment in the society, which mentally traumatizes women. The inevitable time has come to raise ‘women safety’ as a serious issue, rising above politics.”

The state has become a crematorium for women: Congress

On the other hand, UP Congress also surrounded the Yogi government on this issue and said that this state has become a crematorium for women. UP Congress wrote on X, “In Farrukhabad, the bodies of two girls who had gone to the temple on the day of Janmashtami were found hanging in a mango orchard. Who hanged them here? Why did they hang them? Nobody knows anything. This state has become a crematorium for women. No woman who steps out of her house feels safe here. The government must take some concrete steps to rein in these fearless beasts! Till when will our sisters and daughters keep breathing in the shadow of fear?”
