Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and rebel Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Champai Soren has made it clear that he is going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on August 30, but there was a time when Champai had called himself Hemant Soren Part-2. But just six months after this incident, Champai has announced to break ties with JMM and is cursing Hemant Soren.
Champai Soren’s story begins after the dramatic arrest of the then CM Hemant Soren in the money laundering case. After Hemant went to jail, there was speculation that his wife Kalpana Soren could be made the Chief Minister, but on February 2, 2024, she took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand and after Hemant’s release on bail in June, she resigned from the post on July 3 after being the CM for 5 months. And from here Champai took a rebellious stance against Hemant and JMM, but she never accepted it publicly.
I am Hemant Soren Part 2
In his speech in the Vidhan Sabha in the month of February, JMM rebel leader Champai Soren had called himself Hemant Soren Part-2. He said that Champai Soren is the second part of Hemant Soren. We will proudly say that we are Part-2… If Hemant Babu is there then there is courage.
‘He became CM under political circumstances’
On 28 June, Hemant Soren came out on bail. After his release on bail, there were discussions that he is preparing to occupy the CM’s chair once again. Finally, on the evening of 3 July, Champai Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand. After submitting his resignation from the post of Chief Minister to the Governor, while talking to the media after coming out of the Raj Bhavan, he said, ‘I was made the Chief Minister due to political circumstances in the past. But after Hemant Soren came out of jail, our alliance has decided that he will become the Chief Minister again.’
Champai became a rebel after his resignation?
After resigning from the post of Chief Minister on 3 July, Champai Soren was continuously adopting a rebellious stance. But he never accepted this. But the events of 18 August made it clear that Champai was angry since his resignation.
Closeness with BJP
After Champai Soren’s long post, there was a sudden stir in Jharkhand politics. Sources said that Champai may rebel against JMM and may soon join the BJP leadership. When he was asked about these discussions, he smiled and said, “You people are asking such a question, but what should I say on this, we are in front of you.” After saying this, he sat in the car. Amidst all this, BJP leaders were continuously praising Champai Soren.

On August 26, Champai met senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister, a picture of which went viral on social media. Now he himself has confirmed his joining BJP. On Tuesday, he wrote on a social media handle X, this is my new chapter. First I thought of taking retirement, then on the demand of the public, I decided to stay in politics. After thinking, I thought I should go with PM Modi. I am going to join BJP.
