The oldest solar eclipse was 6000 years ago… Scientists are surprised to see the mention in Rigveda

The oldest total solar eclipse in the world has been discovered. The Rigveda is considered to be the most authentic document of this eclipse. Astronomers have considered the oldest total solar eclipse mentioned in the Rigveda to be the oldest. This event is believed to have occurred about 6000 years ago. Statements of many religious and philosophical schools are written in the Rigveda.

These statements are believed to be from around 1500 BC. Like all other religious texts and books, the Rigveda also mentions ancient events. Some texts mention ancient things. But the Rigveda is the oldest. In which there is mention of the rising of the sun several times during the Vernal Equinox. That is, in the afternoon when the sun is directly above the head.

In one place it is written that this equinox is happening in the constellation Orion, in another in the Pleiades. Astronomers started investigating from this description. They started searching for the date. The earth rotates on its axis. The vernal equinox of this time is in the constellation Pisces. That means Orion was in 4500 BC and Pleiades in 2230 BC.

Indian and Japanese scientists studied sign language

Scientists have accepted that there are many such things mentioned in the Rigveda, which were not even written down. As far as the language of the Rigveda is concerned, it is very symbolic. But Mayank Vahia of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Mitsuru Soma of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan have studied it.

The real story of solar eclipse is told differently in Rigveda

Both of them found the mention of the oldest solar eclipse in the Rigveda. Their study has been published in the Journal of Astronomical History and Heritage. The story told in the Rigveda is different from the common Rahu-Ketu story. These stories were created later. The reason for the solar eclipse is written differently in the Rigveda.

It mentions an incident that happened during the time of those who wrote the Rigveda

Both scientists started searching for the date of the vernal equinox during the Orion constellation. Because the oldest solar eclipse happened on this day. It is considered to be the first written total solar eclipse. That means it happened when the people who wrote the Rigveda were present. This event must have happened in front of them. That is why they wrote it in this book.

Two more civilizations have also mentioned ancient solar eclipse

Overall, according to the calculations of both the scientists, the oldest solar eclipse happened sometime between 22 October 4202 BC and 19 October 3811 BC. Before this, a clay tablet was found in Syria, on which the oldest solar eclipse was mentioned. It was being said to be between 1375 to 1223 BC. Apart from this, a rock carving of a solar eclipse of 3340 BC was found in Ireland.
