The officer became the bride, the police launched ‘Operation Dulhan Raja’, this is how the man who deceived 49 women by promising them marriage was caught

A shocking case has come to light in Odisha. The Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested a man who claimed to be an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and promised to marry about 49 women. He was having affairs with them. He was already married five times. The accused has been identified as 36-year-old Satyajit Mangovind Samal. He used to target women through matrimonial sites.

This is how the matter came to light

Police officials said that they had been receiving complaints of cheating for some time. When it was investigated, many angles came to light. Two women were found who claimed that a man had cheated them after marrying them and swindled lakhs of rupees from them. After this, the police, realizing the seriousness of the matter, started a large-scale investigation.

Operation Dulhe Raja was conducted

The police laid a trap to catch this fraud. For this, the help of a woman police officer was taken. This operation was named ‘Dulhe Raja’. The woman police officer created her profile on a matrimonial site. Then she trapped Satyajit in her promises. Both of them talked about marriage. After this, the woman called him to meet. As soon as Satyajit came there, the police team present nearby caught him.

Divorced and widowed women were targeted

When the police interrogated him strictly, Satyajit told that he is a resident of Jajpur, but later shifted to Bhubaneswar. He used to search for divorced and widowed women through matrimonial websites. He used to trap them by telling them that he was a big officer. Then he used to promise marriage. He also accepted to have physical relations with women. He told that he used to first give expensive gifts to women so that he could win their trust and then he used to extort money from them on some pretext or the other.

He used to go to Dubai after every fraud

During police interrogation, Satyajit told that after cheating people once, he used to flee to Dubai. He used to stay in Dubai and look for another target from there. He used to come to India only after his target was trapped. Police officials said that women from many states including West Bengal, Delhi, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan were his targets.

Why did he go to Dubai, there will be an investigation

Bhubaneswar police officials say that we suspect that there is definitely some big secret behind his frequent visits to Dubai. Investigation is also being done from this angle. Police said that further action will be taken on the basis of chats and statements of women.
