In Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, a minor girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her house. The girl had earlier stayed the night in a lodge with a young man. And then she committed suicide accusing the young man of sexual exploitation. Police have now arrested three people in this case.
Giving information about the incident on Thursday, a Chandrapur district police official told PTI that the 17-year-old girl had spent the night with the 19-year-old youth at a lodge in Ballarpur town on Monday.
According to the police officer, when her family asked her the next morning about where and with whom she had spent the night, she told them that her friend had sexually abused her.
After this, the girl returned home. Her family reached the concerned police station and filed a complaint. Acting on the complaint of her family, the police arrested the 19-year-old youth with whom she had spent the night with under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police officer said that the matter was settled after the case was registered and the accused was arrested. But suddenly the girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her house on Wednesday. This incident led to mourning in the girl’s family.
Talking about the incident, an officer of Ballapur police station said that after the death of the girl, the police also arrested the owner and manager of the lodge on Thursday. They are accused of getting the minor girl entry and stay in the lodge.
