A domestic maid working in a house in the country’s capital Delhi stole the owner’s jewellery. Now the police have arrested the accused maid. Regarding this incident, the officials said on Sunday that the accused had stolen the jewellery from the owner’s house in South Delhi. They said that the police have also arrested a goldsmith on charges of buying stolen jewellery from her.
According to a news agency report, the police received a complaint on August 27 about the theft of a gold and diamond jewellery set and Rs 70,200 in cash from the complainant’s house in CR Park area. Police said an FIR was registered and an investigation has been initiated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit said, ‘During the investigation, the team visited the crime scene and took information from the victim. They also examined the CCTV footage of the crime scene as well as the surrounding areas which gave the police several clues.

Police said that by analysing the CCTV footage, the team was able to find out that no outsider had entered the victim’s house at the time of the incident. When the police team questioned the domestic maid who had been working in the house for the last two years, her behaviour confirmed the officers’ suspicion.
The DCP said, “He was apprehended and during interrogation he confessed his crime. During interrogation he revealed that he was in urgent need of money after which he sold the jewellery to a goldsmith named Ankit Jain.” Further investigation is underway, the DCP said.
