Students are staging violent protests in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. These protests are being held on the issue of rape-murder of a female resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College.

The students are demanding the resignation of the state’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The students had already announced this ‘Nabanna March’. Let us tell you in 10 pictures how even the iron walls of the police could not stop these passionate students.

The protest has been organised by students named Prabir Das, MA student of Rabindra Bharati University, Subhankar Halder of Kalyani University and Sayan Lahiri.

These students say that they have nothing to do with politics but their demand is that Mamata Banerjee should resign from the post of CM. According to the students, the protest started with a Facebook post. They have 3 demands. Justice for Abhaya (victim), death penalty for the culprit and resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee.

According to Kolkata Police, more than 6000 policemen have been deployed in the city in view of the ‘Nabanna March’. Barricades have been installed at a total of 19 points. 5 aluminium barricades have been erected at different important places.

There is a 3-layer security cordon of Kolkata Police and Howrah City Police outside Nabanna Bhavan. Officials have been urged to be more vigilant and monitor CCTV footage. Water cannons and Vajra vehicles have also been deployed.

Trinamool Congress MP Sayani Ghosh has called the students’ protest as hooliganism. She said that it is exactly like hooliganism. Hardly any woman is seen in it. There are only 4-5 national flags. This protest is like a picnic in which the protesters are taking a cold bath under the shower of water.
