The house drowned – the cubs were swept away… Are the wolves taking revenge for the children in Bahraich?

Wolves in Bahraich have become man-eaters and are attacking humans. To investigate this, Aaj Tak’s team reached Ramuapur village. A den of wolves was found in Ramuapur village, where their entire family used to live. Wolves were seen in the dense sugarcane fields in Ramuapur village a day earlier. This is the claim of the villagers. When the wolf came here, the villagers reached there and by making noise, people chased it away.

A wolf had come near a shop in the village at 9 o’clock in the night. The shopkeeper said that the wolf was seen near the shop. After that it entered the village and injured a goat. The villagers said that wolves have always been present in this area, but it has never happened that they target only human children. This is what is not understandable.

Wolves have always been present in this area
Villagers say that wolves used to come earlier also and take away goats. Now wolves have become man-eaters. It is not known why this has happened. It is possible that the wolves have been harmed in some way, so they are taking revenge. Now the question arises whether the den of wolves was harmed here, or the den got washed away in the flood water. This harmed the cubs of the wolves.

Wolves make dens and live in sugarcane fields
The wolves used to live in their dens amidst the vast sugarcane fields in Ramuapur. Now, there is water filled there and there is no trace of the wolves. Wolves do not face any problem during summers and winters, but their homes get destroyed due to waterlogging during rains. This happens every year. In such a situation, the story is also incomplete as to why the wolves became man-eaters after the dens got filled with water this time.

Wolves' den in Bahraich

The den drowned in the flood in Ghaghar river
Villagers say that there were cubs of wolves in these dens. A few months ago, when water was drained due to irrigation, the cubs came out and ran here and there. Even after this, wolves came to live here and their cubs were seen. Villagers say that the wolves’ home has been destroyed by the flood in the Ghaghar river. Due to this, the entire family was forced to flee from here.

Why are wolves becoming man-eaters
The Forest Department has also given the same argument that due to this reason the wolves got angry and became man-eaters. UP Forest Corporation General Manager Sanjay Pathak, who is leading Operation Bhediya, said that no animal becomes a man-eater on its own or kills anyone just like that.

Damage to housing is a big factor
Sanjay Pathak said that there are two things, first is loss of habitat, which is the biggest factor. Their areas have been submerged areas. If water fills them, they have to go back. In such a situation, the animal has no intention, but a chance encounter happens and if they get a taste of blood and think that it is an easy prey, then they take a chance next time too.
