Independence Day 2024: During the flag hoisting ceremony on 15th August at the residence of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, people were in a state of confusion for a few moments. The flag was tied on Independence Day in such a way that as soon as the rope was pulled during flag hoisting, a knot was tied in it and the flag could not be opened. CM Eknath Shinde kept pulling the rope for about 30 seconds but could not hoist the flag. After this, a security personnel standing nearby pulled the rope and started hoisting the tricolor. Then the national anthem could start.

Actually, a flag hoisting program was organized at the Chief Minister’s residence in Mumbai on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. During the ceremony, his son and Lok Sabha MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, officials of the Chief Minister’s Office, policemen and employees were present with him. But when it was time to hoist the flag, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde struggled for about 30 seconds, but the flag could not be opened due to the knot. Seeing this, the soldier standing nearby pulled the rope with a jerk and the flag started fluttering freely. After this, the musical national anthem started and Bharat Mata ki Jai was chanted. You must know that on 15th August (Independence Day), the national flag Tricolour is pulled with the help of a rope to the top of the pole and then hoisted. This is called flag hoisting. On the other hand, on 26th January (Republic Day), the flag remains tied on the pole, it is hoisted only by untying the knot of the rope.

After the conclusion of the flag hoisting ceremony, the Maharashtra CM paid tribute to the martyrs of the freedom struggle and said, “I extend my best wishes to all the citizens of the country on this day. The freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country… I salute them.”

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister also elaborated on the distribution of money into the accounts of thousands of women under the state government’s ‘Larki Behan’ scheme. It is worth noting that, with just a few days left for the official launch of the Maharashtra government’s new “Larki Behan Yojana”, the Maharashtra government on August 14 informed that it has been successful in transferring Rs 3000 into the bank accounts of women beneficiaries on a two-month trial basis.

The CM of Maharashtra had earlier said, “Under the Ladki Behan Yojana, 1.5 crore sisters have filled the form. Today, Rs 990 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 3 lakh sisters and this was a trial. The opposition was constantly raising questions on this scheme. Our government is a giver, not a taker, the previous government was a taker.”
