The Dark Secret of the Apalachee High School Shooter

A family member of a 14-year-old boy will be tried as an adult for four murders. Georgia Wednesday’s school shooting has come to his rescue.

Colt Gray’s aunt, Anne Polhamus Brown, threatened to go “full throttle” in support of her nephew on Facebook and “take care” of him after police say he killed two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School.

Brown noted that she would “not disrespect other parents and families who are on the opposite end of this tragedy,” adding “They didn’t deserve this!”

“Having said that, I will not leave my nephew alone!!!!” added Brown. “When [the 2022] Uvalde [school shooting] Happened, I told my own kids ‘only hurt people.’

Gray allegedly opened fire at Apalachee in the town of Winder, killing two teachers and two students, while injuring nine.

Brown alluded to the hardships at home endured by Gray, telling others to “check yourself before you talk about a kid who never asked to deal with a bull—he didn’t see it every day!” She said she would “take care of my nephew and what he needs on this side.”

“I’m not afraid, I’m not going to back down,” Brown said of his resolve to support his nephew. In a comment on one of the posts, however, she opened up about her devastation over the horrific events, writing “I’m totally crippled right now.”

The FBI said Wednesday that local police questioned Gray in May 2023, when he was 13, about Internet posts containing images of guns and alleged threats to shoot up a school. The federal agency had several anonymous tips about the posts, as well as information about where they came from.

Gray’s father told Jackson County sheriff’s officials that his son did not have unsupervised access to the hunting guns present in the home. No probable cause has been determined for the arrest.
