According to the Times of India, R Pandiya Raja, a former member of the Southern Railway’s Zonal Rail Users Consultative Committee, has called for a Vande Bharat service between Chennai and Nagercoil. He also wanted a Vande Bharat train connecting Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram via Tenkasi, which could benefit passengers travelling to Madurai and Trichy.

This was planned during the Sabarimala season, Pandiya Raja said. Two rakes should be operated, one leaving from Chennai in the morning and the other from Thiruvananthapuram at the same time.
