‘The condition of Karnataka Governor will be like that of Sheikh Hasina, controversial statement of Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza

After the order of investigation against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA case, Congress workers, leaders and MLAs in Karnataka are protesting against Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. The situation is such that an MLC of the party even warned that if the Governor does not withdraw his order, he will have to flee from Karnataka like Sheikh Hasina.

Congress MLA Ivan D’Souza cited Bangladesh, “where PM Sheikh Hasina had to leave her post and the country. She announced that next time she will go directly to the Governor’s Office to protest. Just like in Bangladesh, protesters entered the PM House and the PM had to leave his house, post and country.

In fact, the governor has ordered an inquiry into an alleged corruption case against the CM, which involves some land grabbing. The Congress MLC said, “If the governor does not withdraw his order or the President does not ask him to withdraw it, the fate will be the same as Bangladesh where the prime minister had to flee the country, and here in Karnataka the governor will have to flee”, and that, “The next protest is to go to the governor’s office.

In the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) case, it is alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati was allotted 14 land pieces in lieu of her underdeveloped land piece, which was acquired by the authority. In this dispute, the CM is accused of corruption and misuse of power. It is being claimed that this alleged scam is worth 4000-5000 crores.

Siddaramaiah has challenged the probe order given by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in the High Court. In a writ petition, he has sought quashing of the probe order, saying that the decision is politically motivated and unjust. He insisted on his innocence and said that he has no history of corruption in his 40-year political career.
