budget session of parliament, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said the Budget Session of Parliament will begin on July 22 and end on August 12. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget on July 23. “The Honourable President of India, on the recommendation of the Government of India, has approved the proposal to convene a meeting of both the Houses of Parliament from 22nd July, 2024 to 12th August, 2024 for the Budget Session, 2024,” Rijiju said.

First budget of Modi 3.0

This will be the first budget of the third government led by Prime Minister Modi. President Draupadi Murmu had said in her address to the joint session of Parliament that major social and economic decisions are expected to be taken in the budget. The interim budget was presented in February due to the Lok Sabha elections held in April-June.

In the recent Parliament proceedings, new MPs were sworn in. During this, the opposition created a ruckus on issues like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question paper leak, Agneepath scheme and inflation. There was a long discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in both the houses of Parliament. While PM Modi gave his speech amid the uproar in the Lok Sabha, the opposition boycotted his reply in the Rajya Sabha and walked out.
