‘The biggest joke…’, said Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose on CM Mamata’s protest after Kolkata incident

There is anger across the country for justice for Kolkata’s doctor daughter. Doctors across the country are on strike and protesting. Meanwhile, political battle is also going on in Kolkata. Both CM Mamata Banerjee and BJP leaders are out on the streets. Mamata Banerjee has announced a padayatra demanding justice, while BJP is also going to march to Mamata Banerjee’s house.

Amidst all this, now the Governor of Bengal has raised questions on the working style of Kolkata Police and has also targeted the Mamata government. Talking to India Today TV on Friday, Governor CV Anand Bose said that Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee is behaving like ‘Jekyll and Hyde’.

Bose said Mamata Banerjee’s demand to first hang the accused and then continue the trial is the biggest joke he has heard in recent times. “The chief minister saying hang the person and then continue the trial sounds like the voice of a Roman emperor. The chief minister is behaving like Jekyll and Hyde, the rest know who is who,” Bose said.

When asked about his views on the police investigation in the case, Bose said that he has already expressed his displeasure with the current police hierarchy in Kolkata. “After the incident at RG Kar Hospital, I have written a long letter to the Chief Minister and suggested him to take action and also sought a report from him under Article 167 of the Constitution. In the last 5 years, I have sent 30 such letters to which no reply has been given. This is unconstitutional,” the governor said.

What is Jekyll-Hyde?

Let us tell you that in 1886, a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson was published, named Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This novel by the Scottish writer is quite famous and as its title suggests, the story is quite strange. This novel focuses on the story between two opposing characters – the kind and honorable Dr. Jekyll and the cruel murderer Hyde. Based on this novel, a person who has two completely different personalities is referred to as ‘Jekyll-Hyde’. That is, a person who has one thing in his mind and shows something else.
