The actress faced exploitation at the hands of her father, why did she remain silent for years? She said- I am not happy with that person…

After the Justice Hema Committee report came out, there has been an uproar in the Malayalam industry. After this report, many actresses and other women from the film industry have spoken about the physical, sexual and mental abuse they faced. Serious allegations have been made against many male actors. Now actress turned politician Khushboo Sundar has spoken about this.

Khushboo Sundar wrote the post

Khushboo Sundar has written a long post on X. She wrote, ‘We have to appreciate the courage of those women who stood their ground and won. Hema Committee was a necessary break from exploitation. Exploitation, asking for sexual favours, asking women to compromise so that they can be suppressed or their career can be furthered, all this happens in every field. Why does only a woman have to go through all this? Although men also have to face this. But mostly these things happen to women.’

The actress stressed that you should raise your voice. She wrote, ‘It doesn’t matter whether you speak today or tomorrow, just raise your voice. Raising your voice will help you overcome these things and it will also be investigated better. In her post, Khushboo Sundar requested people not to blame the victims or shame them. Nor ask them questions like ‘Why did you do this?’, ‘What was the need for you to do this?’ Asking such questions breaks the victim even more. She said that even if the victim is a stranger to you, she needs your support.

Meanwhile, the actress also gave her own example. She wrote, ‘Some people ask me why I took so much time to raise my voice against the abuse I faced at the hands of my father. I agree that I should have said it earlier. But what happened to me was not a compromise to advance my career. I had to face exploitation at the hands of the person who should have been the strongest hand to save me from falling.’

The actress also urged men to support the victims. In the end, she wrote, ‘This should be an eye-opener for everyone. This is what ends exploitation. Women, come forward and raise your voice. Remember that you will always have a choice in life. Your no means no in every way. Never adjust or compromise with your dignity and reputation. Never.’
