A vicious miscreant attacked a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable with a sword at Jammu Railway Station and tried to snatch his official rifle. The accused miscreant had recently come out of jail after being released on bail in a criminal case.

This horrific incident happened on Wednesday evening. The assailant was identified as Devendra Singh, a resident of Kathua, who currently lives in Nanak Nagar, Jammu. Giving information about this incident on Thursday, a police officer told PTI that RPF constable Mohan Lal was injured in this attack, but he foiled the attacker’s attempt and saved the rifle.

The police officer further said that the accused miscreant Devendra Singh came down from Jhelum Express just before the attack and then attacked the constable. The police officer said that after the attack, he tried to snatch the constable’s service rifle before fleeing from the spot.

According to the police officer, before the accused Devendra could escape from the spot, Railway Police personnel reached the spot and caught him immediately. During investigation, it was found that Devendra Singh has a criminal history and a murder case is also registered against him in Kathua. He had got bail due to health reasons and was out of jail.

After this sensational incident, a case has been registered against the accused Devendra Singh in the Railway Police Station. Police officials said that now it is being investigated what was his motive behind trying to snatch the weapon?
