Thalapathy Vijay will equal Shahrukh’s record with GOAT, the film is ready to earn 100 crores on the first day

Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘The Greatest Of All Time- GOAT’ has been released in theatres. The craze of the public for the film is such that in many places the first show of the film started at 4 in the morning. Vijay’s name is included in the list of Tamil superstars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan. Fans are going even more crazy for his latest film ‘GOAT’ because this is one of Vijay’s last films before entering politics.

While announcing his political party in February, Vijay had said that he is quitting acting after completing the two films on which he has already started working. The first of these two films is ‘GOAT’ and the title of the second one is not yet revealed. This means that this film is also special for the fans because Vijay is now on the verge of his farewell from acting. In such a situation, the kind of booking that ‘GOAT’ has received is explosive. Vijay is going to make a strong record on the very first day of this film.

100 crore opening is certain
There has been tremendous advance booking for ‘GOAT’ which was released in theatres on Thursday. According to SaccNilk, more than 12 thousand tickets of the film were booked in advance in India before its release. With this great booking, the film has made an advance gross collection of more than Rs 30 crore.

There is a huge craze for Vijay’s film in the international market as well. The film has made an advance gross collection of 32 crores from the overseas market. That means before the first show starts in theatres, ‘GOAT’ had made an advance gross collection of 62 crores from advance booking alone. And after the release, the total gross collection of the film is going to cross the 100 crore mark comfortably.

Thalapathy Vijay will make this great record
If we look at the list of Indian films which have grossed more than 100 crores on the first day, the situation is something like this:

1. RRR – 223 crores
2. Baahubali 2 – Rs 217 crore
3. Kalki 2898 AD – Rs 191.5 crore
4. KGF 2 – Rs 159 crore
5. Salaar Part 1 – 158 crores
6. Leo – Rs 142.75 crore
7. Saaho – 130 crores
8. Jawaan – 129 Crore
9. Adipurush – 127.50 crores
10. Animal – Rs 116 crore
11. Pathan – 105 crores

This list shows that there are only two actors who have 2 or more films in this list – Prabhas (5) and Shahrukh Khan (2). Thalapathy Vijay’s one film ‘Leo’ is included in this list. But now with ‘GOAT’, he will also have two films with more than 100 crore opening.

‘GOAT’ will remain cool in Hindi
Thalapathy Vijay’s film has been released in 5 languages, including Hindi. Hindi audience is also a fan of Thalapathy and likes his films. But the film in Hindi has not got screens in national multiplex chains of North India like PVR and Inox. In North India, this film in Hindi will be seen only in those theatres which are not national chains. Therefore, ‘GOAT’ will not be able to do the same wonders in Hindi as films like ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ have done.

The reason behind this is a rule of national chains. These cinema chains have made a rule that they will release only those films in their theatres which will come on OTT 8 weeks after their release in theatres. Whereas it has been the case in all four South Indian industries that films come on OTT platforms within 4-6 weeks of their release in theatres. Due to the lack of guarantee of OTT release after 8 weeks, the Hindi version of ‘GOAT’ is not available in many theatres in North India.

In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how much Vijay’s film earns in Hindi with limited screens. Because without a big release in Hindi, it is going to do wonders at the Indian box office.
