Tension between Israel and Hezbollah, advisory issued for Indians

Amid rising Israel-Hezbollah tensions, India has advised citizens in Lebanon to exercise caution and avoid travelling there. The Indian Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on Monday advised Indian citizens in the country to exercise caution and stay in touch with the embassy.

The embassy has issued an emergency phone number and an email ID for Indian citizens in Lebanon and advised them to stay in touch with the embassy.

The Indian Embassy issued an advisory saying that in view of the recent developments in the region, all Indian citizens living in Lebanon and those planning to travel to Lebanon are advised to exercise caution and stay in touch with the Indian Embassy in Beirut through their email ID cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or emergency phone number +96176860128.

An Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon on Monday killed two people, according to news agency Reuters. The attack was in retaliation for a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday that killed 12 teenagers and children, which Israel and the US claimed was carried out by Hezbollah.

In particular, there are fears that Israel and Iran-backed groups could engage in a full-scale war, reports the Associated Press. Keeping this in mind, flights at Beirut airport have been canceled.
