‘Take Kangana Ranaut to court… the law will decide’, why did Manoj Muntashir say this, Emergency’s release postponed

The release of Bollywood actress-MP Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film Emergency has been postponed. The controversy over the film has deepened, the censor board has not yet given any clarification regarding it. However, Kangana has shared her opinion by sharing a video. In the video, lyricist Manoj Muntashir was seen talking about the postponement of the film’s release and some of its reasons.

In this 3 minute 32 second video, Manoj has raised many questions. Manoj has answered all the objections raised against the parts of the film in a questioning manner. He has also talked about freedom of expression. Manoj has requested those who have raised objections that if they have any problem, they should take Kangana to court, the law will decide. Kangana has shared the video and in the caption described it as a fight between emergency versus freedom of expression.

The release of the film was halted

Manoj said in the video- Emergency will not be released on 6 September because the film did not get the censor certificate. This is a good thing. But why is this certificate game being played half-heartedly? It should be played fully. One more certificate should be taken away from us that we are people who respect freedom of expression. Leave this pretense of greatness, we are not able to tolerate one film. Let’s talk about freedom of expression.

‘What is the problem with emergency… The problem is that Indira Gandhi’s brutal murder has been shown. So did Indira ji die in a road accident, was she not murdered? The problem is that Indira Gandhi’s killers have been shown to be Sikhs. So were Satwant Singh and Beant Singh not Sikhs? The problem is that Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been shown to be a terrorist. So was that brute who killed thousands of innocent people not a terrorist?’

Political pressure in the name of Sikh

‘It is said that the Sikh community has objections to these parts of the film. I am not ready to believe that the Sikhs who fearlessly stand up for the truth by chanting Ek Omkar Satnam got scared of the truth shown in a film. Sikhs are a golden page in the history of India. When they come out wearing a saffron turban on their head, the whole country looks at them with respect. Because the bravery of our great Gurus is reflected in every fold of that turban. Will Sikhs be identified with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale?’

Manoj said many things in praise of Sikhs in the entire video. He said that Sikhs have never played the victim card. It is not possible for such a community to be scared of just one film. Manoj further declared that ‘Go ahead and take whatever complaints you have against Kangana Ranaut to the courts, the law will decide them. But this film is not Kangana’s alone. A crew of 500 people has earned the film by shedding their sweat. There should be no injustice with them in your presence.’

Pressure on the censor board

Manoj further said- Condemn the pressure being exerted on the censor board in your name. Say that this pressure is political, not moral. A few scared people do not represent the entire community. Say that your truth neither needs any film nor is afraid of any film. After the release, if you feel that something wrong has been shown in the film, then protest against it, I will also stand with you. We have always believed in your humanity and your urge for justice. We know that Aurangzeb’s eardrums would burst due to the loud roars of the Sikhs. Those Sikhs can never stand in favor of suppressing someone else’s voice.

Let us tell you, Kangana Ranaut is playing the character of Indira Gandhi in Emergency. She has also directed the film herself. The film stars many actors like Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary.
