Search operation in PoonchRajouri: Security forces launched ground and aerial search operations following suspicious movement in Poonch, Rajouri and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, four army personnel including a captain were martyred in a fierce encounter with heavily armed terrorists of Pakistani terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. This is the third major terrorist incident in three weeks in Jammu region. A week before this attack on Monday night, terrorists had ambushed an army patrol vehicle in Kathua district, in which five soldiers were martyred and the same number of army personnel were injured.

Captain Brijesh Thapa from Darjeeling, Naik Dokkari Rajesh from Andhra Pradesh and Sepoys Bijendra and Ajay Kumar Singh from Rajasthan were injured in the firing in Desa forest area. The Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel had launched a cordon and search operation there. After the encounter, security forces, including Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, launched a massive operation in Desa forest area to flush out the terrorists.

In an official statement, the army said that the firing started late Monday evening in the Desa forest area where the Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel had launched a cordon and search operation. The army said that four army personnel were injured in the initial firing, who later succumbed to their injuries.
