A big case has come to light from the country’s capital Delhi. The basement of Rao IAS Coaching Center located in Old Rajendra Nagar got flooded with water. This became fatal for the students studying here. Two girl students died due to drowning in the water filled in the basement, whose bodies have been recovered. At the same time, one student is still missing.

What did Education Minister Atishi say?
On the incident of Rao Coaching Centre sinking, Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi said that fire service and NDRF are deployed on the spot. Delhi Mayor and local MLA are also on the spot. I am closely monitoring the situation. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the accident. Whoever is responsible for this accident will not be spared.

After all, how did the basement of the coaching centre get filled with water?
The question arises that how did the coaching centre get filled with so much water that the students almost drowned, eyewitnesses have told shocking things about this. According to the eyewitness student, about 30-35 students were present in the library built in the basement. As soon as we came out after the library was closed at 7 pm, water was coming from the front with very high pressure. By the time we vacated the library, the water had filled up to our knees.

In just 2 to 3 minutes, the water got filled up to the roof
The flow was so fast that we were unable to climb the stairs. Within 2-3 minutes, the entire basement was filled with 10-12 feet of water. Ropes were thrown to get out from there, but the water was so dirty that nothing was visible. Children were being taken out one by one from there. The student said that there were 2 more girls behind me. Who could not get out.

There was a lot of pressure coming from the gate, we tried to get out, but due to the high pressure we could not even climb the stairs. The water was filling up so fast that in 2 to 3 minutes the entire basement was filled up to the ceiling. The height of the basement ceiling is up to 12 feet and in a blink of an eye the water filled up like a flash flood. Ropes were thrown to save us, but we were not able to see the ropes in the dirty water.

The accident happened at 7 p.m.
An eyewitness said that this incident happened at 7 pm. Waterlogging has happened here earlier also, about a week ago, there was waterlogging here, so we were stopped upstairs. The condition of waterlogging is such that many times our classes are cancelled, the water remains filled for 2 to 2.5 hours. Last time when we were taking classes, we were not allowed to go to the basement at around 10 am, many students’ cars were floating.

Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi has said about this incident that a flood-like situation has arisen in the basement due to the bursting of a drain or sewer. She said that if any MCD official is found guilty, strict action will be taken.
