A case has been registered under the Gangster Act against five people including Mukhtar Ansari’s MLA son Abbas Ansari. Apart from MLA Abbas Ansari, his driver Niaz Ansari, jail canteen manager Navneet Sachan, Varanasi accountant Shahbaz Alam Khan and local SP leader Faraz Khan are named in the FIR lodged at Karvi (Chitrakoot) police station.
Police told the news agency that the five have been accused of running an extortion racket and intimidating people. Abbas Ansari was lodged in Chitrakoot’s Ragauli jail. During this time, the allegations of extortion racket and intimidation were made.
The SP said Abbas Ansari is currently lodged in Kasganj jail and the other four are out on bail. These four were earlier sent to jail for allowing Abbas and his wife Nikhat Ansari to meet each other in jail.
It is known that Abbas Ansari won the Mau seat on the ticket of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) in the 2022 UP assembly elections. SBSP, which is now part of the NDA, was then part of the Samajwadi Party alliance.
According to the police, Abbas Ansari is accused of running a gang and extorting money and threatening people while he was lodged in Chitrakoot’s Ragauli jail. The case has been registered on the complaint of the SHO of Karvi police station. The SHO said that the MLA, accused in various cases, is currently lodged in Kasganj jail. The other four accused are currently out on bail.
