Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s film ‘Stree 2’ has started making a blast in the theatres as soon as it was released on Thursday. The horror-comedy film ‘Stree’, which came in 2018, surprised people and earned a lot and was one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year. Now its sequel has made it clear from the very first day that this time the blast will be even bigger.
This horror comedy film broke the records of big action films on the very first day. People were expecting a lot of money from the sequel of ‘Stree’, but nobody expected the level at which this film opened. ‘Stree 2’ has made many big records since its opening.Shahrukh Khan’s last year’s film ‘Jawaan’ had an opening of Rs 65.50 crore, which was the all-time best opening of Hindi films. Shahrukh’s film ‘Jawaan’ was also at the second spot, which did a business of Rs 55 crore in Hindi on the first day. While the last film in the top 3 was Ranbir’s film ‘Animal’, whose opening collection was Rs 54.75 crore.
Trade reports suggest that the final opening collection of ‘Stree 2’ is Rs 55.40 crore. And that too without including the earnings from paid preview shows. In these preview shows, the film has collected 9.40 crores on Wednesday. That means ‘Stree 2’ is now the second biggest opening film in Hindi after ‘Jawaan’. ‘Pathan’ has reached number three and ‘Animal’ is now out of the top 3.
Bollywood films saw opening day collections of more than Rs 40 crore 5 times last year. Pathan, Jawaan, Animal, Tiger 3 and Gadar attracted huge audiences to theatres last year. But this year the biggest opening film ‘Fighter’ also managed to earn only Rs 24 crore on the first day.
But now ‘Stree 2’ has opened at the same level as the big Bollywood films did last year. The first day of ‘Stree 2′ is also the highest grossing day of the Hindi box office in 2024 so far.
Rajkumar Rao, who has always been a favorite of the audience for his strong acting performance, has not been a very popular actor at the box office. Stree’, which earned 6.82 crores on the first day, remained the biggest opening film of his career for 6 years.
This record in his account was changed by ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ which was released this year, which earned 6.85 crores on the first day. But now ‘Stree 2’ has added a grand opening to Rajkumar Rao’s account with 55.40 crores.
For Shraddha Kapoor too, ‘Stree 2’ is the best opening of her career. Earlier, her top opening was 24.40 crores, which came from her film ‘Saaho’ (2019) with Prabhas.
15th August, i.e. Independence Day, has been a record-breaking day for Bollywood films. Last year, Sunny Deol’s film ‘Gadar 2’ made the highest earnings record on this day. Sunny’s box office storm had a net collection of 55.40 crores on 15th August.
Many people thought that Sunny’s record would not be broken for years. But exactly one year later, ‘Stree 2’ has also equaled the record of becoming the highest grossing film on 15 August with a net collection of 55.40 crores.
