In Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai, a couple killed an elderly woman and then chopped the body into pieces and threw it away. The accused couple is in police custody. It has been revealed that 78-year-old woman Vijaya lived in MGR Nagar area of ​​Chennai.

Daughter had filed a missing person report
On July 17, Vijaya had gone out for some work. When she did not return home, her daughter Loganayaki searched for her at many places. But no clue was found. After this, the daughter lodged a complaint about her mother’s disappearance at MGR Nagar Police Station on July 19. When the police started investigating the case, shocking facts came to light and then the accused couple was also arrested.

Neighboring couple was suspected
According to the information, 78-year-old Vijaya lived in MGR Nagar in Mylapore. She was a daily wage laborer. On July 17, Vijaya did not return from work. After this, her daughter Loganayagi lodged a complaint with the MGR Nagar police on July 19. The MGR Nagar police started the investigation and after examining several CCTV footage, Vijaya’s neighbor Parthiban came under suspicion. He was called for questioning on July 23 but he did not come.

The couple confessed to the murder
The police tracked Parthiban’s cellphone signal and found that he was hiding with his wife in Virudhunagar district. The couple has been arrested. When questioned, Parthiban and his wife Sangeeta confessed to killing Vijaya.

Pieces of the body were thrown into the Adyar river
He said the duo had caught the elderly woman stealing from her house. Shockingly, they strangled Vijaya and after killing her, chopped her into pieces, tied the body parts in a sack. They then carried the pieces in a two-wheeler and dumped the sack in the Adyar river. Police suspect that Vijaya may have been murdered for her jewellery and are waiting for the couple to be brought to Chennai for further investigation.
