Stop wolf attacks at all costs… CM Yogi’s strict instructions to officials on Bahraich case

CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the attack by man-eating wolves in Bahraich. He has given necessary instructions to the departmental minister and the concerned officials. CM Yogi said that attacks are being carried out by man-eating wolves/leopards in some areas of the state, efforts should be made to control and catch them at all costs and concrete steps should be taken as per the need.

According to the CM, instructions have already been given that the administration, police, forest department, local panchayat, revenue department should create widespread public awareness in the area. People should also be told about safety measures. The Forest Minister should deploy additional personnel of the forest department and deploy them in other districts including Bahraich, Sitapur, Lakhimpur, Pilibhit, Bijnor. Increase joint patrolling.

Along with this, senior officers should camp in the districts. Take the help of public representatives. In rural areas where there is a problem of electricity, arrange for Petromax there.

CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh is the first state to declare human-wildlife conflict as a disaster. In this regard, every possible help should be provided to the families of those injured in wildlife attacks or those who died untimely.

Earlier, Minister of State for Forest and Environment Arun Kumar Saxena had submitted a report on the entire case of man-eating wolf in Bahraich to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During this, PCCF Wildlife Sanjay Srivastava also informed the Chief Minister about the search operation of the Forest Department.

It is worth noting that the dreaded wolves have killed nine people including eight children in Bahraich. About 25 teams from five forest divisions Bahraich, Katarniaghat Wildlife, Shravasti, Gonda and Barabanki are engaged in catching these man-eating wolves. The DFO of Bahraich is saying that the total number of these wolves is six. So far four wolves have been caught and the administration is now looking for two more wolves. However, the villagers of the affected areas are saying that the number of wolves is two dozen.
