Speaking in the assembly on Tuesday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath alleged that people involved in cases of crime against women are from the Samajwadi Party and that the party itself is a ‘serious threat’ to the safety of women. CM Yogi was responding to a question from SP MLA Ragini Sonkar about the government’s plan to prevent sexual exploitation of women and children in the state.

CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The state government is completely serious about the safety of women. The result of this seriousness is that cases related to crimes against women and children are continuously decreasing. There is a fear of action in the minds of criminals.”

He further said that after the formation of the BJP government in 2017, the first action to curb the miscreants was taken in the form of Anti Romeo Squad. Pointing towards the opposition members, he said, “It is sad to say that when the Anti Romeo Squad was formed, the first to oppose it was the Samajwadi Party. There is no hesitation in saying that people associated with the Samajwadi Party are found to be directly or indirectly involved in cases of crime against women.”
