Son’s drug addiction took the lives of parents, couple committed suicide by setting car on fire

An elderly couple in Pathanamthitta, Kerala committed suicide by setting their car on fire. It is being said that they were upset with their son’s drug addiction. They have allegedly mentioned this in their suicide note. It is being said that the elderly couple took their lives because they were unable to handle the drug addiction of their son, who is currently admitted in a private rehabilitation center.

Local police said that an elderly couple from Tiruvalla, Raju Thomas George (69) and Lagi Thomas (63), committed suicide by setting themselves on fire inside their car. According to the police, a suicide note has been recovered from the couple’s house, which reveals that they took this step because they were unable to deal with their 39-year-old son’s drug addiction.

Appeal to get your son admitted in a government center

The old man’s son is currently in a rehabilitation center in Thodupuzha in Idukki district. Police said that the couple’s identity was confirmed after finding the registration number of the vehicle found near the farm. In his suicide note, he has appealed to the police administration to get his son admitted to a government institution. Also, the old man told in the suicide note that he has transferred his property to his daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

I used to live abroad, when I returned home I got addicted to drugs

Local people say that the old man’s son Raju lived abroad. He returned home after working for many years. Here he became addicted to drugs, which took the lives of his parents. Police said that the patrolling team had seen the vehicle from a distance in a field.

When we went closer, we found that there were two bodies in the car. The police sent the bodies for postmortem. The couple’s daughter-in-law and eight-year-old granddaughter had left the house due to the son’s drug addiction.
