Somewhere there is 10% reservation in police recruitment, somewhere there is 3 years relaxation in age limit… what all announcements did the states make for Agniveers

Now the Rajasthan government has announced a big relaxation regarding the Agneepath recruitment scheme. In Rajasthan, retired Agniveers will get reservation in other government jobs including state police. Earlier, many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat have announced reservation for Agniveers.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced reservation for Agniveers in jail and forest guards and state police recruitment. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also said that when Agniveers return after their service, they will be given priority in adjustment in UP Government Police Service, PAC. A certain reservation facility will be provided for them in Uttar Pradesh Police.

Madhya Pradesh also announced reservation

The opposition is constantly opposing the Agneepath recruitment scheme. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, India Block had promised in its manifesto that if they come to power, they will abolish the Agneepath scheme. On the other hand, many state governments are announcing reservation for Agniveers after serving in the army.

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, CM Mohan Yadav had also announced reservation for Agniveer jawans in police and state armed forces. Mohan Yadav said, ‘Today on the occasion of Kargil Diwas, our government has decided that as per the wish of the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Agniveer jawans will be given reservation in police and armed forces recruitment.’ Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced 10 percent quota and five years age relaxation for Agniveers.

Discount will also be available in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also wrote in his tweet that ‘Gujarat government will give priority to Agniveers in the recruitment of Armed Police and SRP’. At the same time, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai also said that the Chhattisgarh government will give special reservation to Agniveers. After serving in the army, these soldiers will be able to get recruited in various forces of the state government. He said that a fixed guideline of reservation will be issued soon for this.

Uttarakhand CM also announced

Recently, the Union Home Ministry had decided to reserve 10 percent posts in the Central Paramilitary Forces for former Agniveers. The central government has announced to give 10 percent reservation to former Agniveers in the Central Armed Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles. Under this, former Agniveers will get relaxation in age limit and physical test for the post of constable and rifleman.

The Dhami government of Uttarakhand has also announced reservation in state government jobs to the youth retiring under the Agnipath scheme. The Chief Minister has asked the officials to prepare a roadmap for this. Apart from this, a skill development scheme is also being prepared.

Haryana government will give 10 percent reservation

Earlier on July 17, the Haryana government had also announced 10 percent reservation in police and mining guard jobs for retiring Agniveers. Also, 5 percent reservation was announced in Group C. Apart from this, there will be a relaxation of three years in the age limit for Group C and Group D posts. People wishing to start their own business will be given an interest-free loan of up to Rs 5 lakh.

The center had announced the exemption last year

In March last year, the Union Home Ministry had announced 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in the recruitment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The ministry had also issued a notification informing about relaxation in the upper age limit.

The ministry said that taking a similar decision regarding recruitment in BSF and CISF, the upper age limit will be relaxed by five years for candidates of the first batch of ex-Agniveers and by three years for candidates of other batches.
