Indian Army In Jammu: The new strategy is being prepared amid the increasing terror attacks in the Jammu region. In view of the infiltration of highly trained Pakistani terrorists, the Indian Army is re-adjusting its deployment in the region as per intelligence inputs and security needs. Defence sources told ANI that the Indian Army has deployed around 500 Para Special Force commandos in the region to deal with 50-55 terrorists from Pakistan. These terrorists have entered Jammu to revive terrorism.

Intelligence agencies have also strengthened their mechanism in the area and are working to eliminate terror support infrastructure, including overground workers supporting terrorists, sources said. They said the Army has already deployed troops, including a brigade of around 3,500-4000 personnel, in the area to counter Pakistan’s proxy aggression here.

He said Army officials on the ground are working on a strategy to hunt down and eliminate terrorists equipped with new weapons and communication equipment. He said the Army already has an existing counter-terrorism infrastructure in the region, comprising Romeo and Delta forces as well as two regiments of the Rashtriya Rifles along with other regular infantry divisions.

Several terrorist attacks within a month

There has been a significant increase in terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in the last one month and terrorists have specifically targeted Jammu. Terrorists have started targeting peaceful Jammu by making their strategy. First of all, on 9 June, terrorists opened fire on a bus full of pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu, in which 9 people were killed. Then, terrorists targeted an army vehicle in Kathua on 8 July, in which 5 soldiers were martyred. Within the last one month, terrorists have carried out 7 major incidents, in which 12 soldiers have been martyred and 9 civilians have died.

Attacks also took place in Doda which was free from terrorism in 2005

Doda district, which was free of terrorism in 2005, has been witnessing a series of terror attacks since June 12, when six security personnel were injured in a terror attack at Chattargala Pass. A policeman was also injured in a shootout in Gandoh the next day. Following this, three terrorists were killed in a day-long operation in Gandoh area of ​​the district on June 26, while another encounter took place in Ghadi Bhagwa forest on July 9. A total of 27 people, including 11 security personnel, a Gram Raksha Guard and five terrorists, have been killed in about 12 terror attacks in six districts of Jammu province since the beginning of this year. These dead also include seven pilgrims returning from Shiv Khodi temple in Reasi district on June 9. (ANI)
