‘Slap the exploiter, don’t spend years complaining’, actor Vishal’s advice to women

There has been a stir in South Cinema since the Justice Hema Committee report came out. This committee formed by the government has released a report on sexual, physical and mental abuse of women in Malayalam cinema. After this, many actresses and other women have openly shared their experiences. Serious allegations have been made against many big actors and directors associated with Malayalam cinema. Meanwhile, Tamil actor Vishal spoke about the safety of women.

Vishal shared his thoughts

Actor and producer Vishal shared his views on the safety of women in the Tamil film industry with India Today/Aaj Tak. He said that women should slap the person who harasses them and if anything wrong happens to them, they should immediately complain. He also said that Tamil Nadu Actors Association Nadigar Sangam will soon set up a platform to help female artists, where they will be able to register complaints.

Vishal said, ‘This is not happening only in the film industry, but in every industry. Exploitation of women has become a normal thing these days. Women and girls go through many difficult situations. Many do not talk about it. Necessary action should be taken on the Hema Committee report and these complaints. The veracity of these complaints should also be investigated. Many people also make fake allegations for publicity.’

Vishal also gave advice on how women should react when they face exploitation. He said, ‘If someone even touches you, hit him with a slipper. He will stop. He will not think of touching any woman again. Do not take years to register your complaint. What is there to worry about in this? What are you afraid of? As soon as you register a complaint, the police will take the right action.’
