Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I Highlights: The Indian team has started the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka with a win. In the match played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on 27 July (Saturday), India defeated the host team by 43 runs. In the match, Sri Lanka was given a target of 214 runs to win, but its entire team was reduced to 170 runs in 19.2 overs.

Nissanka-Mendis had increased the tension!

If we look at it, this victory was not easy for the Indian team. Despite scoring 213 runs, the Indian team seemed to be lagging behind at one point in this match. The reason behind this was Sri Lankan openers Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka, who gave their team a great start. Nissanka-Mendis shared a partnership of 84 runs in 8.4 overs. This opening partnership had set the momentum for Sri Lanka in a way.

Despite Kusal Mendis’s dismissal, Pathum Nissanka’s vision was very clear and he did not hesitate to send the weak balls out of the boundary line. After this, Sri Lankan batsmen started returning to the pavilion one by one. Sri Lanka then lost wickets in the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th overs. Overall, Sri Lanka could not even play the full 20 overs and lost the last 9 wickets for 30 runs.

Pathum Nissanka scored the highest 79 runs for Sri Lanka. Nissanka hit seven fours and four sixes in his innings. Kusal Mendis scored 45 runs in 27 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. Apart from these two, only Kusal Perera (20) and Kamindu Mendis (12) could reach double figures. Riyan Parag took three wickets for 5 runs for India. Akshar Patel and Arshdeep Singh got 2-2 wickets each. Mohammad Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi also got one wicket each.
