‘Situation can be like Manipur in Maharashtra too…’, Sharad Pawar expressed apprehension

On the occasion of the “Samajik Aikya Parishad” organized in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, NCP founder Sharad Pawar has expressed the possibility of unrest in Maharashtra like the incidents in Manipur. He emphasized on the incidents in Manipur, where the Kuki-Meitei community, which was once united, has now resorted to anarchy and violence.

Sharad Pawar expressed his concern over the seriousness of the situation in Manipur, where violence has been going on for months due to a dispute between two communities. Due to this, many houses were destroyed, women were harassed and dozens of people lost their lives. Emphasizing the long-standing tradition of communal harmony, he said that where two communities once lived together in Manipur, they are now not even ready to talk to each other.

‘The province that was united for generations has now become restless’

Sharad Pawar said, “Manipur was mentioned in a conversation with me. This was also discussed in the country’s Parliament. People from different castes, religions, languages of Manipur came to Delhi to meet us. What does this picture say? This province, which was united for generations, has now become disturbed. There was a conflict between two tribes. Houses were set on fire, fields were destroyed. Women were tortured.”

Sharad Pawar said, “Manipuris, who have lived together for generations, maintained harmony, are not ready to talk to each other today. Today, when such a big crisis has come upon a state, it is the responsibility of the rulers to face it, reassure the people, create unity, maintain law and order, but unfortunately today’s rulers have not even looked at this.”

Situation in Maharashtra can also be like Manipur!

The NCP founder says, “After what happened today, it never occurred to him that the Prime Minister of the country should go there and provide relief to the people. This happened in Manipur. This happened in neighboring states as well. This was seen in Karnataka as well and in recent times there is concern that this could happen in Maharashtra as well.” He said, “It is a good thing that Maharashtra has a legacy of many great personalities who gave direction to harmony and equality.”
