‘Sheikh Hasina will return to her country as soon as democracy is restored…’, son Sajeeb Wajed claimed

Sheikh Hasina’s son has said a big thing about the return of exiled Sheikh Hasina from Bangladesh after resigning from the country. Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed said in a media interaction that Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh as soon as democracy is restored in Bangladesh. At least 232 people were killed in incidents of violence that erupted across the country after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in Bangladesh on Monday, according to a media report on Thursday, taking the death toll since the anti-quota movement to 560. The protests first began in mid-July. Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled the country after several weeks of fierce protests by students against her rule.

According to a report in the Prothom Alo newspaper, a total of 232 people have been reported dead since Hasina stepped down from power till Wednesday evening. Earlier, about 328 people were killed in clashes centering on a movement over the quota system in government jobs from July 16 to August 4. Overall, about 560 people were killed in the last 23 days. About 21 more people were killed till Wednesday. The highest number of 232 people died on Tuesday. Some of them died during treatment.

Around 209 prisoners escaped from the high-security Kashimpur jail in Ghazipur on Tuesday. Jail guards opened fire to prevent the prisoners from escaping. Jail sources said six people, including three terrorists, were killed in the incident. The police headquarters has requested everyone to cooperate with the police members so that they can join their work places.
Security concerns have gripped the country since Hasina’s ouster as police have remained suspended, citing fears over her safety amid reports of deadly attacks on security personnel.

The call was made through a brief message sent from the police headquarters on Thursday morning.

Earlier on Wednesday, newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Mainul Islam directed police members across the country to join their respective workplaces within 24 hours.

There is no traffic police on the road for the last three days. Representatives of students and other voluntary organizations have been working as traffic police on the roads of the capital for three consecutive days.

Meanwhile, two leaders of Hasina’s Awami League were detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Darshan ICP check post in Chuadanga while trying to flee the country.

Rajshahi City Corporation ward councilor and Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League general secretary Rajab Ali was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Darshan ICP check post in Chuadanga while trying to flee the country along with his associate Zakir Hossain.

BGB personnel grew suspicious when the two tried to enter India on Wednesday morning. They were detained and questioned, during which they admitted to wanting to flee the country.
