Police have busted a sex racket in Navi Mumbai of Thane district of Maharashtra. A woman from Kerala has been arrested for running this racket. A case has been registered in this matter under the provisions of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Police is investigating it.
Officers of the Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Navi Mumbai Police raided a residential complex in CBD Belapur area on Saturday evening. Based on a tip-off, members of the AHTC team raided the flat and found prostitution going on in full swing there.
The AHTC team has arrested a woman named Kanakamma (55) from there, who is said to be a resident of Kerala. A girl has also been rescued from here. After this, a case has been registered in CBD Belapur police station under the provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Let us tell you that in February this year, the police had busted a high profile sex racket in Navi Mumbai. A sex racket was being run under the guise of a spa centre. The police had arrested a woman who was the kingpin of this illegal prostitution racket. Two girls were also rescued.
A police officer had said that this case is from Vashi area of Navi Mumbai township. The police was constantly receiving complaints about a prostitution racket being run under the guise of a spa center operating in a popular mall here. On the basis of that complaint, the police raided that spa center.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested from there on charges of prostitution. Acting on a tip-off, the police had sent a fake customer to the spa centre. At that time, two girls of about 20 years of age were also present there, who were working at the outlet.
Inspector Prithviraj Ghorpade had said that when the police team interrogated both of them, it was revealed that they were being forced into prostitution. The woman who did this to them turned out to be the mastermind of this racket. The police had arrested the woman who pushed the girls into prostitution.
