Sawan Shivratri 2024: Although Shivratri comes on every Chaturdashi of every month, but Shivratri of Sawan is considered to be of special importance. Shivratri is a very big festival of Hindu tradition. Generally it is celebrated on Chaturdashi date. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared on this day. Some say that Lord Shiva was married on this day. By worshipping Mahadev on this day, a person can get complete happiness in life.
On the holy day of Sawan Shivratri, fasting, chanting mantras and night vigil have special importance. On the day of Sawan Shivratri, people fill water in Kanwar and offer it to the Shivling. This time the festival of Sawan Shivratri is being celebrated on 2 August i.e. today.
Sawan Shivratri Date
According to the Hindu calendar, this time the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month will be from 3:26 pm today i.e. 2nd August to 3:50 pm tomorrow i.e. 3rd August. But, the fast of Sawan Shivratri is being observed on 2nd August.

Method of worshipping Shiva on Shivratri
On the morning of Shivratri, take a bath and pledge to worship Shiva. Offer water to Lord Shiva. After this, do Panchopchar Puja and chant Shiva mantras. Then at night, apart from Shiva mantras, you can also recite Rudrashtak or Shiva Stuti. If you worship for four hours, then worship with milk in the first hour, curd in the second, ghee in the third and honey in the fourth. Water must be used in every hour.
1. Measures to get wealth
To get wealth on Shivratri, anoint Lord Shiva with milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee. After this, offer a stream of water. Then pray for getting wealth.
2. Remedies for getting a child
To get a child, offer ghee on the Shivling. Then offer a stream of water and pray for getting a child. This remedy is also considered very beneficial for the progress of children.
3. Remedies for early marriage
For quick marriage, offer 108 Bel leaves on Shivling. Say “Om Namah Shivaya” with every Bel leaf. Pray for quick marriage. Doing this remedy also brings sweetness in married life.
