Satish Kumar became the first Dalit CEO of Railway Board, credited with developing the fog safe device

Indian Railway Management Service Engineers (IRMS) officer Satish Kumar has been appointed as the new Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board. He is the first Dalit officer to become the Chairman in the history of the Railway Board. Satish Kumar will replace the current CEO of the Railway Board, Jaya Verma Sinha. She is retiring on 31 August. A government order said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the name of Satish Kumar. The order states that he has been appointed at the top pay scale (pay level 17 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission).

Know who is Satish Kumar

Satish Kumar is a 1986 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) officer. He joined the Railways in March 1988. In his career spanning 34 years, Satish Kumar has made significant contributions to the Indian Railways. On 8 November 2022, he took over as the General Manager of North Central Railway (Prayagraj).

Talking about his educational background, Satish Kumar has done B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur. Along with this, he has also done PG Diploma in Operation Management and Cyber ​​Law from Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Joined railways in 1988

Satish Kumar started his career in Indian Railways in March 1988 and since then he has served in many important roles in various zones and divisions. He is known for many reforms in the railways. He was initially posted in Jhansi Division of Eastern Railway and Diesel Locomotive Works (BLW) in Varanasi.

Fog safe device developed

One of the important contributions of Satish Kumar is the Fog Safe Device developed by him, which has proved to be vital in ensuring safe train operations in foggy conditions. A railway official said that this device has become an important tool for the Indian Railways. This device has reduced the risk to a great extent, especially during the winter months in northern India when visibility is low.
