There’s been a lot of talk lately about a major GPT-5 upgrade, or whatever OpenAI Ends up calling it, coming soon to ChatGPT. As you’ll see below, Samsung Executor may have used the GPT-5 moniker in a presentation earlier this week, though OpenAI has yet to make this designation official. The point is that the world is waiting for a big one ChatGPT Upgrade, especially considering that Google has also teased major Gemini updates Which will come later this year.
Perhaps the best evidence that OpenAI is close to launching a more capable ChatGPT variant is the rumor regarding internal discussions about new ChatGPT subscription plans. OpenAI is apparently considering prices of up to $2,000 per month for access to its models, which is 100 times more than what ChatGPT Plus currently costs.
I would guess that OpenAI is considering these prices for enterprise customers rather than regular genAI users. Regardless, this figure indicates that OpenAI has made major improvements to ChatGPT, and it could be available soon – including the GPT-5 upgrade everyone has been waiting for.
Although I am a paying ChatGPT Plus subscriber, I will probably get the same features on the free tier. Plus should give me better access to the latest models, including GPT-4o and voice mode. However, the latter is not available in Europe.

I am willing to pay for premium genAI models rather than buy the free version. I’ve said it before. But I’m not the kind of ChatGPT user who would go for the alleged $2,000 plan. comes from the figure InformationA trusted source of tech leaks.
Apparently, OpenAI executives are discussing new price levels for premium ChatGPT access. That’s where the $2,000 monthly plan comes in.
Information Says the expensive subscription will give users access to upcoming products. OpenAI is working on two separate initiatives that have both been leaked in recent months.
called one Strawberries Internally, a ChatGPT variant that will have better Internet search logic and performance capabilities. I will remind you that Google wants to bring better logic and deeper research to Gemini this fall.
other Pop up In recent reports. It’s called Orion, and it’s a more advanced large language model. Orion may be the real successor to GPT-4o. OpenAI can use Strawberry to create more high-quality data training sets for Orion. OpenAI reportedly wants to reduce the illusions that genAI chatbots are notorious for.
Will Orion be called GPT-5? There’s no indication of which naming scheme OpenAI will use.
GPT-5 photographs with assumed dimensions: 3*5T (default MoE). Appropriately, the GPT-4 is specified there with 1.7T parameters. Additionally, 7000 B100 as calculated. Official statements are getting louder and more public. Perhaps the release is now imminent for as much publicity as… https://t.co/Sd2q5uzTH9

Some of these leaks may be false. But even without the leaks, it’s enough to look at what Google is doing to understand that OpenAI should work on responsiveness. The likes of Samsung’s chip division are also expecting next-gen models like the GPT-5 to launch soon, and are trying to anticipate the needs of next-gen chatbots.
For that $2,000 ChatGPT subscription, I don’t see regular ChatGPT users considering such a plan. However enterprise customers and app developers can pay more to access the best possible ChatGPT chatbot OpenAI can offer.
On that note, it is not clear if OpenAI can increase Aadhaar subscriptions for ChatGPT Plus. I’d say that’s impossible right now, because even Google charges $20 a month for Gemini Advanced, which also gives you 2TB of cloud storage. Additionally, Google is offering Pixel 9 buyers a free year of Gemini Advanced access.
Then again, OpenAI wants to make money. as Reuters According to reports, the company has over 1 million paying users on its business products, ChatGPT Enterprise, Teams and Edu. That’s a significant increase from April, when OpenAI reported 600,000 enterprise users.
The free ChatGPT tier has millions of users every month. OpenAI said ChatGPT has more than 200 million weekly active users, or double the figure it announced last fall.
In addition, OpenAI is looking to raise more capital, which would take the company to a valuation of $100 billion. Apple and Nvidia are among the rumored investors. At the end of 2023, OpenAI was worth $86 billion.
Finally, I will point out a more obvious development. All of these things are happening before the GPT-5 upgrade is imminent iPhone 16 incident on Monday. OpenAI is Apple’s major AI partner for Apple Intelligence.
ChatGPT will be available for free to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 users who choose to use Apple Intelligence on their devices. It will also be available on M-series iPads and Macs that can run Apple’s AI. This can bring in a large influx of new ChatGPT users, including potential paying subscribers.
That said, ChatGPT will not be available on the iPhone 16 at launch. It will likely be enabled by the iOS 18.1 update in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if OpenAI makes its big GPT-5 upgrade before Apple enables ChatGPT in iOS 18.
